In the hospital

If it's not one thing it's another... they've admitted Bree to the hospital. And because it was unexpected, she and I had only packed enough for one night. It was supposed to be just another doctor's appointment, but blood work showed major problems. Her liver function is all out of whack. The Lamtical is wrecking havoc on her liver, which might explain the further weight loss and stomach pain. These seizure meds, all the life-threatening side effects. It's scary. First it was the Dilantin on her blood cells and now this. They told me that if she had continued to take Lamtical just a few more weeks then her liver could have began to fail. Because she has to stop taking it cold turkey she is at risk for status epilepticus and we don't want her to go through that again, been there done that. So they want to monitor her a few days and also monitor her liver. And being that we live 4 hours away and our local hospital really isn't equipped to deal with her condition (they have only 25 beds and don't even deliver babies!) they went ahead and admitted her. She is on IV fluids, (IV also already there ready to give her emergency meds should she need them in case she does go into status epilepticus) and not a happy girl. Rick and the other girls and also Lil Bee are on their way up now. But Bree and I both have our lap tops so at last she can have her link to the outside world, I hope that helps some. I just wish she could get some breaks. Will update later as we get more info.
