Another day in the hospital world...
I haven't gotten much sleep, even though they have a sofa bed here in Bree's room. She had another rough night with her seizures. The nurses rushed in to take care of her. It is only 9:30 and already a respiratory therapist has been in to give a breathing treatment (she has fluid in her lungs) an x-ray tech has come in to x-ray her chest to evaluate her to see how much fluid and whether or not she has pulmonary edema, lab tech has drawn her blood, the doctor has made his rounds - given her a full neuro exam. Because she is not very responsive the nurses gave her a bed bath, rather then her taking a shower. She has put in a full day all before 10:00 am. Right now she is sleeping peacefully and I hope it will last. She deserves a break. The doctor says maybe she can go home on Saturday or Sunday if she has no more episodes of status epilepticus. It all depends on what her chest x-ray and blood work shows and if her condition improves. They want to build up a level of the new drug (neurontin) in her blood, and want to be sure her liver function is ok before sending her home. Still, once they release her, for my own peace of mind we may stay in town a couple of days. My husband and two other daughters Lindsey and Allie are here, Bree was so happy to see them and it helps a lot to have the support of my family. I'm glad Rick was able to take the rest of the week off of work. Lil Bee is coming up tonight too when she gets off of work. Bree will love to see her.
