ER visit

Well we kind of figured it would happen eventually no matter how hard we tried to prevent it. We had to take a trip to the ER this morning because Bree fell during a seizure, hit her head, and cut it open. She's injured herself before of course during seizures but never seriously enough to need an ER visit. Always just bruises or scraped knees. But this morning she was standing close to the counter when a grand mal seizure hit her and she hit her head on the counter and got a nasty gash on her forehead.
It was not a pleasant ER visit. We could have been in and out sooner if the doctors hadn't have kept us waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I have to say thanks to the nurses for being so great, for taking good care of Bree and coming in often to check on her, and offer reassurance but the doctors were not good at all. But we were there from 9:30 until 1:30 mostly just waiting. Not for test results or anything mind you- but on the doctors to get their act together and sew her up. Because she was bleeding (head wounds bleed a lot) They did take her back right away, and they did a quick exam of her, determined she had "no concussion" said they'd be right back to sew up her wound, and we waited. "Right back" turned into almost an hour. They came in, cleaned her up, said they'd be right back... 20 minutes later they did come in and stitch her up then said they'd x-ray her skull just in case. We waited another 45 minutes for them to come get her and take her to x-ray. That was at noon she went to x-ray, 12:30 they brought her back and we were told she had no concussion. I still think she should have had a CT scan but maybe I'm an over protective mom... I know that the brain can still be injured. We were still told the doctor had to examine her once more before she left and that's fine, that's great. But he didn't come back for 45 more minutes. We finally got to leave around 1:30, stopped to grab some lunch and come home. I've been told to just keep an eye on her, She's doing okay just says her head hurts. And she's embarrassed.
