We had another long weekend, between taking Bree to get her blood drawn and to a therapy session Saturday morning, going by to see my mother at the nursing home Saturday and all of the usual errands. I can't tell if the new medication combination is going to work for Bree yet or not. From what she is finally starting to open up to in both therapy and to me she suffered horrible abuse from her biological parents. It's amazing she was able to as well as she did for so long considering the head injuries she got, now it seems throughout her whole life, not just as she got older. I just don't understand how someone can hurt a child like that. All of my girls are such sweet, amazing people. Some of them have acted tough when they first came to me, but they all have one thing in common - they just want to be loved. They are all scared, afraid of being thrown away and rejected. They are all afraid of being hurt again.
She didn't have as many seizures during the day which is a good sign, but still had a lot over night. That's how it all got started though, she first started to have the seizures in her sleep. She still gets frustrated and upset about not being able to do things she used to be able to do before her diagnosis of epilepsy.
She is still asleep this morning, Lil Bee is over to spend time with her today and hang out. Allie gets out of school this week and she is excited. I can't believe she will be a senior next year. She has grown so much from that scared 12-year-old girl who came to live with me. I'm so proud of her!
