At Winston-Salem

We are here at Winston-Salem now. Since it is one of the bad days for Bree, it was a very rough trip. Thankfully I'm not alone today so it wasn't as nerve racking as it would have been if I had been driving all alone. Since Allie is out of school now for the summer, she came with me. She switched off with the driving too, loving to get the experience of more interstate driving so one of us was always available to take care of Bree. I am so proud of Allie. Anyone who met her when we first got her as a foster child, and adopted her - would never believe this is the same girl. She had severe post traumatic stress disorder as well when we first got her, but now she's an amazing young lady.
Bree had a good day yesterday. We went to Lowe's and bought some plants for our garden, including banana peppers. Bree loves to put banana peppers on her pizza and veggie sandwiches. (she is a 3/4 vegetarian, as she calls herself because she will eat chicken or fish but won't eat beef or pork) Anyway she worked out in the garden and Rick showed her how to plant her pepper plants, how deep to dig, how to take them out of their peat pots, how much to water them. She just looked so happy. She seemed to enjoy herself so much. It is very important that she bond with her dad too. She is still very fearful of men and she needs to see that not all men are bad. I enjoyed watching her and her sisters. We planted tomato and pepper plants yesterday. We've already planted corn, carrots, onions, potatoes, etc. We always try to plant enough veggies to get us through summer, fall and winter. We also grow strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, and have peach and apple and plum trees. I'm lucky my girls are fruit and veggie eaters.
