Bree had blood work done on Friday, and we are waiting to hear back from her doctor to see how that came out. Hopefully her kidney and liver functions are still good. I have made an appointment for her at the Epilepsy center in Augusta for August 24th. It is the quickest that they can see her but hopefully they can provide us some new insights, hopefully they can get her off of some of the epilepsy drugs and have her just take one medicine. And yes, we will strongly consider the brain surgery if her doctors think it will benefit her and give her a better quality of life. If she can be seizure free that will be great.
Bree told me I was the "Best mom ever" because I made a special trip to the grocery store this morning so that she can have her favorite soup. I make this meatless taco soup for her sometimes that she loves. It is simple to make: One can of corn (the nibblets style, not creamed), one can of diced tomatoes, one can of rotel, one can of kidney beans, and one can of pinto beans, a pack of ranch dressing mix, and a pack of taco season mix and one can of water - I use one of the 15 ounce cans to add the water in. You mix it all together in a large pot, bring it to a boil and let it simmer for an hour, then serve it with shredded cheese and sour cream on top (if desired) with tortilla chips. Bree likes to eat hers like a dip, or you can crumble the tortilla chips up in the soup. Normally this is a great thing to eat in the winter when it's cold outside but it's in the 90's here. I usually keep the ingredients on hand here but we didn't have any canned tomatoes.
So while we wait for the doctor to call, the soup is simmering and we'll probably have it for lunch several days this week. Even though she is a teenager Bree is still picky about food sometimes. For awhile she was a on a pizza only kick - Now it seems like she just wants to eat bean burritos or soup. But as long as she will eat, I won't complain. Because she still snacks on healthy foods like raw veggies and yogurt.
