Well, we were so excited and we had some hope we Friday night Bree was completely seizure free. At first I thought something was wrong, that maybe I had been a bad mom and completely slept through all her seizures (from sheer exhaustion) or that maybe her alarms didn't go off. So I ran in early Saturday morning to check on her. Bree was still sleeping peacefully. Allie had slept in the room with her Friday night and she woke up and asked me what was wrong. I asked her "Did she have any seizures last night?" Allie sat up and looked at her sister and said "I slept through the night! I didn't hear her alarms go off" So I looked through her apnea monitor records first, it didn't record any episodes of apnea. Then at the seizure monitor. No seizures. We tried to celebrate quietly but Bree woke up and wanted to know what all the excitement was. I told her "You didn't have any seizures last night!" She smiled and said "Oh, good" In a calm way that made us laugh.
She continued to have a good day all day yesterday for our day of father's day shopping and our mother/daughter's day. I took them to a town across the state line in NC called Franklin, we discovered they were having a Scottish Festival.
But... our hopes were dashed over night last night. The seizures are back. I had hoped we were finally turning a corner, but she had 6 over night. But Rick says at least we can have some hope, that we know she can have a complete 24 hours with no seizures at all. And that her having at least one night and one day with no seizures at all and having it occur over Father's day weekend was the best gift ever. That maybe we should consider her having the vagus nerve implant after all. Maybe it will offer her even more seizure free days. We will talk more about it in this upcoming week, and talk to Bree and let the doctor know when she goes back on June 29th.
