Long hot summer

I've lost count of the number of days it has been over 90 degrees. It's right at 22 or 23 now. I'm so ready for fall. Bree is too, she can't really get outside any in this heat. She is recovering from another surgery right now. She had a blockage in her kidney. It was causing her severe pain and repeated kidney infections. If you have ever had a kidney stone, then you know how she felt. I don't know why it took so long for anyone to find it. She has about a 6 week recovery ahead but is feeling better then she did. She's in pain, from her surgery, but not near as much pain as she was before. She spent 5 days in the hospital but is resting at home now. Still seizure free thankfully! And working on flash cards as part of her memory/speech therapy at home. We play a lot of word and memory games with her too. She loves it. She also continues to go to speech/OT/PT several times a week. Everyone else is doing well in the family. Mom continues to do well for her age at the nursing home, she loves when I bring Bree to see her and when the other grandkids to see. Bree some how manages to sneak her cookies, but the doctor/nurses have said it's okay because her blood sugars have been okay. (Mom is borderline diabetic). Bree and Mom have a special bond, I think since both have had strokes they understand what each other are going thru. Well I will try to do another update really soon! Allie goes back to college in a few weeks.
